Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic minced
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes optional
1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
1 lemon sliced for garnish
Instructions
1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme.
2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon butter.
3. Sear the chicken breasts for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.
4. Reduce heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape the browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
6. Add heavy cream, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, lemon zest, honey, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until smooth.
7. Let the sauce simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
8. Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the sauce over the top.
9. Simmer for another 5 to 7 minutes until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
10. Stir in the remaining butter for a glossy finish.
11. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices before serving.
Notes
Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for the brightest flavor and best sauce consistency.
Avoid overcrowding the skillet so the chicken develops a beautiful golden crust instead of steaming.
Allow the sauce to simmer gently over medium heat to prevent the cream from separating.
