1 small onion, finely chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
3 green onions, sliced
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/4 cup beef broth
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
Instructions
1. Cook the white rice according to package directions and fluff with a fork once finished.
2. Dice the bell peppers, chop the onion, mince the garlic and ginger, and slice the green onions.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, cornstarch, beef broth, and black pepper.
4. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until browned.
5. Drain excess grease if needed while leaving a small amount for flavor.
6. Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until softened.
7. Stir in garlic and ginger and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
8. Add diced bell peppers and cook until slightly tender but still crisp.
9. Pour the prepared sauce into the skillet and stir continuously until thickened and glossy.
10. Stir in part of the green onions and sesame seeds.
11. Spoon cooked rice into serving bowls and top with the beef mixture.
12. Garnish with extra green onions, sesame seeds, and optional sriracha before serving.
Notes
Use fresh garlic and ginger for the best flavor and aroma.
Do not overcook the bell peppers because they taste best with a slight crunch.
For extra flavor, allow the beef to brown properly before stirring frequently.
