Description

These hot honey chicken waffle bites feature warm, crispy mini waffles topped with fully cooked breaded chicken and a sweet-spicy honey glaze, finished with fresh dill pickle chips and chives. Perfect for entertaining, game day, or anytime you want an impressive appetizer that comes together in minutes with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 mini waffles, frozen or freshly made, thawed if frozen
  • 450 g fully cooked breaded chicken bites, frozen or fresh, ready to serve
  • 60 g honey, raw or regular
  • 2 teaspoons hot sauce, Frank's RedHot or your preferred brand
  • 15 g butter, unsalted for melting with the honey
  • 12 dill pickle chips, fresh or from a jar
  • 1 tablespoon chopped chives, fresh for garnish
  • Optional ingredients: ranch dressing for dipping, extra hot sauce, crispy bacon bits

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Waffles
  2. 1. Heat the Waffles: If using frozen mini waffles, toast them in your toaster or toaster oven for 3-4 minutes until they're warm and lightly crispy on the outside. If using fresh waffles, simply let them sit at room temperature or warm them briefly.
  3. 2. Arrange on Platter: Place all 12 toasted waffles on a large serving platter or cutting board, leaving small gaps between each one for easy assembly.
  4. Make the Hot Honey Glaze
  5. 3. Combine Ingredients: In a small saucepan over low heat, add the butter and honey together, stirring constantly for 2-3 minutes until the butter is completely melted and the mixture is warm.
  6. 4. Add Heat: Remove from heat and stir in the hot sauce until fully incorporated, about 1 minute. Taste a tiny drop on your finger (once it's cool enough) and adjust the heat level to your preference by adding more hot sauce if desired.
  7. 5. Keep Warm: Transfer the glaze to a small serving bowl or keep it in the saucepan over very low heat so it stays pourable while you assemble the bites.
  8. Prepare the Chicken and Assemble
  9. 6. Cook or Reheat Chicken: If your chicken bites are frozen, bake them according to package directions (usually 15-18 minutes at 200°C) until heated through and crispy. If they're already cooked, you can serve them at room temperature or warm them in the oven for 5 minutes for extra juiciness.
  10. 7. Build Each Bite: Take each toasted mini waffle and top it with one warm breaded chicken bite, pressing down gently so it sits securely.
  11. 8. Drizzle the Glaze: Using a spoon or small brush, drizzle about 1 teaspoon of the hot honey glaze over each chicken bite, letting it cascade down slightly onto the waffle.
  12. 9. Garnish and Serve: Top each bite with one dill pickle chip and a small pinch of fresh chopped chives for color and brightness. Serve immediately while the waffles are warm and the chicken is still hot.
