If you’re craving a quick dinner that’s both comforting and packed with flavor, this Honey Garlic Chicken and Rice is exactly what you need. It’s the perfect balance of sweet, savory, and garlicky goodness, all served over fluffy rice for a complete and satisfying meal. This easy recipe is ideal for busy weeknights, meal prep, or when you’re looking for simple dinner ideas that don’t compromise on taste. With tender shredded chicken coated in a rich honey garlic sauce, it’s one of those food ideas you’ll keep coming back to again and again.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

2 boneless skinless chicken breasts

1/3 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

4 cloves garlic minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons chopped green onions

1 tablespoon sesame seeds

1 tablespoon cooking oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Rinse the rice thoroughly and cook according to package instructions, then set aside and keep warm.

2. Season the chicken with salt and pepper on both sides.

3. Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat and sear the chicken until lightly golden on both sides.

4. In a bowl, mix honey, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water, then combine with the sauce.

5. Pour the sauce over the chicken and reduce heat to medium-low. Cover and simmer until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.

6. Remove the chicken, shred it using two forks, and return it to the pan.

7. Let the shredded chicken simmer in the sauce until thickened and well coated.

8. Serve the chicken over cooked rice and spoon extra sauce on top.

9. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for a juicier result

Adjust honey and soy sauce to balance sweetness and saltiness to your taste

Add a splash of water when reheating to keep the sauce smooth and glossy
