Ingredients

Scale

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 cups marshmallow fluff or marshmallow creme

3 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

1. Place the softened butter into a large mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer for 3–5 minutes until pale and fluffy.

2. Add the marshmallow fluff and continue mixing until smooth, creamy, and fully incorporated.

3. Mix in the vanilla extract and salt until evenly combined.

4. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time while mixing on low speed.

5. Increase mixer speed to medium-high and whip the frosting for 2–3 minutes until light and airy.

6. Add heavy cream or milk one tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached.

7. Continue whipping briefly for extra fluffy texture if needed.

8. Transfer the buttercream to a piping bag or use immediately for frosting cakes, cupcakes, brownies, or cookies.

9. Chill the frosting for 10–15 minutes if it becomes too soft for decorating.

10. Decorate desserts as desired and serve fresh.

Notes

Always use softened butter instead of melted butter for the fluffiest texture.

Sift the powdered sugar before mixing to keep the frosting smooth and lump-free.

If the buttercream becomes too soft while decorating, refrigerate it for 10–15 minutes before piping.
