Whether you’re searching for quick breakfast ideas, easy dinner party desserts, or holiday food ideas, this easy recipe will become a favorite winter tradition. It’s also a great activity for children and beginner bakers alike.

Ingredients

Scale

12 chocolate cupcakes (homemade or box mix)

2 cups vanilla buttercream frosting

12 large marshmallows

24 mini chocolate chips

2 tablespoons orange icing or small orange candies

24 mini pretzel sticks

12 blue cupcake liners (optional)

Instructions

1. Bake 12 chocolate cupcakes according to your recipe or box instructions and allow them to cool completely.

2. Prepare a thick vanilla buttercream by beating together softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and a splash of milk until fluffy and pipeable.

3. Using a piping bag with a round tip, pipe two swirls of frosting on each cupcake to form the snowman body.

4. Place one large marshmallow on top of each frosted cupcake to serve as the snowman’s head.

5. Gently press mini chocolate chips into each marshmallow to form eyes and a smile.

6. Add a small amount of orange icing or a piece of orange candy to create the nose.

7. Break pretzel sticks in half and insert one on each side of the frosting for arms.

8. Arrange cupcakes on a tray and refrigerate briefly if needed to firm up the frosting. Serve at room temperature for best texture.

Notes

Use chilled frosting for easier piping and to maintain shape.

Decorate right before serving if you’re in a warm environment to prevent melting.

Freeze undecorated cupcakes ahead of time and decorate fresh for best results.
