Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1 can (10.5 oz) condensed French onion soup

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup milk

8 oz wide egg noodles

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 1/2 cups crispy French fried onions

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add egg noodles and cook for 1 minute less than directed. Drain and set aside.

2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and brown the ground beef. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Drain excess fat.

3. Stir in French onion soup, sour cream, and milk. Let it simmer briefly to thicken.

4. In a large bowl, mix cooked noodles with the beef mixture and half of the shredded cheese.

5. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and top with the remaining cheese.

6. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes.

7. Remove foil, top with French fried onions, and bake uncovered for 5–10 more minutes until crispy.

8. Let rest for 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve.

Notes

Slightly undercook noodles to prevent sogginess during baking.

For deeper flavor, mix in caramelized onions with the beef.

Add crispy onions only during the last 10 minutes of baking to keep them from burning.
