Ingredients
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (turkey, or plant-based)
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8-count, large biscuits)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (optional, for brushing)
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley or chives (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spatula, until fully browned. Drain excess grease if needed.

Sprinkle flour over the cooked sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
-
Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly. Simmer the mixture until it thickens into a gravy, about 5–7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
-
Pour the sausage gravy into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
-
Cut each biscuit into halves or quarters and arrange them on top of the gravy.
-
(Optional) Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter for a golden finish.
-
Bake for 25–30 minutes, until biscuits are puffed and golden brown.
-
Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
