Ingredients

Scale
  • 40 saltine crackers (enough to line a 9x13 baking sheet)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a 9×13 rimmed baking sheet with foil or parchment paper and lightly coat with non-stick spray.
  2. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer to cover the entire baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until melted. Once it begins to boil, let it boil undisturbed for 3 minutes.
  4. Pour hot toffee mixture over the crackers and spread evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 5 minutes, until the toffee is bubbling.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Let sit for 2–3 minutes to soften.
  7. Spread melted chocolate evenly across the surface.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt or toppings of choice.
  9. Cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 30–45 minutes until fully set.
  10. Break into pieces and serve or store.
