Ingredients
For the Cake:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Butter Glaze:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp water
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Salted Caramel Drizzle:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch deep round pan or Bundt pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another large bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy (3-5 minutes).
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
- Alternately add the dry ingredients and buttermilk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
- Pour batter into pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While cake is baking, prepare butter glaze: melt sugar, butter, water, and vanilla in a saucepan (do not boil).
- Once cake is out of the oven, poke holes all over the top and slowly pour warm glaze over the cake. Let sit 10-15 minutes.
- Let cake cool completely before removing from pan.
- To make caramel: In a saucepan, melt sugar over medium heat until amber. Add butter, stir until melted, then add cream and sea salt. Simmer 1-2 minutes.
