Description
This Praline Popcorn is the perfect combination of crunchy popcorn, rich caramel coating, and toasted pecans. Whether for a cozy movie night, a festive party treat, or homemade gifts, this irresistible snack is simple to make and absolutely delicious!
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups popped popcorn (plain, air-popped)
- 1 cup pecans, toasted
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Spread the popped popcorn evenly on the baking sheet and sprinkle the toasted pecans on top.
- Make the caramel sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture comes to a boil. Let it simmer for 4-5 minutes without stirring.
- Add baking soda and vanilla: Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will bubble – this is normal.
- Coat the popcorn: Immediately pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn and pecans. Gently toss with a heat-safe spatula until everything is evenly coated.
- Bake the popcorn: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating.
- Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and let the popcorn cool for 10-15 minutes. Break it into clusters and enjoy!
Notes
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
- Nut-Free Option: Skip the pecans if you prefer nut-free caramel popcorn.
- Topping Ideas: Add a drizzle of melted chocolate, a pinch of sea salt, or mix in chocolate chips after cooling.
- Popcorn Tip: Use plain, air-popped popcorn for the best results and flavor.
