- 8 oz wide egg noodles (or preferred pasta)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 ½ cups tomato sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup cottage cheese or cream cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until fragrant. Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix sour cream with cottage cheese or cream cheese until smooth.
- Layer the casserole:
- Spread half the pasta in the baking dish.
- Top with half the meat sauce, then half the sour cream mixture, and a layer of shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layers, finishing with cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
