If you’re looking for breakfast ideas, food ideas, or an easy recipe to impress a crowd, this is it.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

3/4 cup butter (softened, plus extra cold for topping)

2 large eggs

1 cup sour cream

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 medium Granny Smith apples (peeled and thinly sliced)

3/4 cup chopped pecans

1/3 cup caramel sauce (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

1. In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and chopped pecans. Cut in cold butter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Chill while prepping the cake.

2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan or line with parchment paper.

3. In a large bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Mix in sour cream and vanilla.

4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add dry mixture to the wet ingredients.

5. Spread half the batter in the pan. Layer with sliced apples. Top with remaining batter and smooth it out.

6. Sprinkle streusel topping evenly over the batter. Gently press it down.

7. Bake for 45–55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cover with foil in the last 10 minutes if browning too quickly.

8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Drizzle caramel sauce over the top before serving, if desired.

Notes

Use cold butter for the streusel to get that perfect crumbly texture.

Don’t skip the sour cream—it ensures the cake stays moist and rich.

Slice the apples thin and evenly so they bake soft without getting mushy.
