Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 9–12 lasagna noodles (cooked al dente)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups tomato sauce (or marinara)
- 4 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk or heavy cream
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: Chopped parsley or basil for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with a pinch of salt and pepper. Drain excess grease and stir in the tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes and set aside.
- Cook the Lasagna Noodles
- Cook the lasagna noodles in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and lay flat to prevent sticking.
- Make the Garlic Parmesan Béchamel Sauce
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk and let it simmer until thickened. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
- Assemble the Lasagna
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce on the bottom. Add a layer of noodles, beef mixture, béchamel sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a top layer of cheese.
- Bake
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Serve
- Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley or basil, and enjoy warm!
Notes
- For extra texture, sprinkle breadcrumbs or crushed crackers on top before baking.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
- Reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 15-20 minutes, covered with foil to prevent over-browning.
- Try mixing in smoked gouda or provolone cheese for added depth of flavor.
