Orange Croissant Breakfast Bake

  • Author: Sally Thompson
  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings 1x

Description

This Orange Croissant Breakfast Bake is a buttery, flaky, and citrus-infused delight that’s perfect for brunch or a cozy morning treat. Croissants are soaked in a creamy orange custard, then baked to golden perfection, creating a soft, custardy center with crisp edges. With bright citrus notes and a hint of vanilla, this dish is as refreshing as it is indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 large croissants (preferably day-old), torn into large pieces
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear or cut croissants into large chunks and arrange them in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, milk, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants, pressing them down slightly. Let soak for 10 minutes.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and set in the center.
  6. Let cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

  • Letting the croissants soak before baking helps them absorb the custard for a better texture.
  • For extra flavor, sprinkle in white chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or dried cranberries.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven.
