Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm milk
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 large egg
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. If making dough from scratch, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. Add butter, egg, salt, and flour. Mix and knead for 5–7 minutes. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
2. For store-bought dough, rest at room temperature for 10–15 minutes.
3. In a bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Set aside.
4. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Melt butter separately.
5. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with melted butter, spread cream cheese, then sprinkle cinnamon sugar.
6. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 1–1.5 inch slices.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with parchment. Place rolls cut-side up and bake 18–22 minutes until golden.
8. Brush with more butter and sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar while still warm.
9. Optional: Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
Soften cream cheese completely for a smooth filling.
For a richer flavor, brush with egg wash instead of butter before baking.
You can refrigerate unbaked rolls overnight and bake them fresh in the morning.
