Ingredients

Scale

Salmon:24 oz (680g) salmon fillets (4 fillets, evenly thick)

Marinade/Glaze:¼ cup honey

3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)

1 tbsp sesame oil (or olive oil if preferred)

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced

Optional Garnishes: Green onions, sliced

Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger until well combined.
  2. Marinate the salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a glass container or zip-top bag. Pour half of the marinade over the salmon, reserving the other half for later. Marinate the salmon for at least 15 minutes, or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator.
  3. Preheat the oven: When ready to cook, preheat the oven to 400ºF (204ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the salmon: Place the marinated salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fillets, until the salmon is cooked through and caramelized on top.
  5. Reduce the remaining marinade: While the salmon bakes, transfer the reserved marinade to a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 5 minutes until it thickens into a glaze.
  6. Finish and serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and drizzle the thickened glaze over the fillets. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, if desired. Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as steamed broccoli or brown rice.

Notes

  • You can marinate the salmon for up to 4 hours for more intense flavor. If in a rush, 15-30 minutes is sufficient to infuse the fish with flavor.
  • To use frozen salmon, thaw it completely before marinating and follow the recipe as directed.
  • Leftover salmon can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
