Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef

3 cups broccoli florets

1 small onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp cooking oil

1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

3 tbsp honey

2 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp water (for slurry)

1 tsp sesame oil

1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

23 cups cooked white rice (optional)

sesame seeds or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. If serving with rice, begin cooking it according to package instructions.

2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 2–3 minutes, then add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.

3. Add ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart until fully browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

4. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, hoisin, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. In a separate cup, mix cornstarch and water to form a slurry.

5. Add broccoli to the skillet with the beef and sauté for 3–5 minutes. Add a splash of water and cover if you want softer broccoli.

6. Pour in the sauce and cornstarch slurry. Stir everything together and simmer for 2–3 minutes until thick and glossy.

7. Serve over rice and garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.

Notes

Use lean ground beef to avoid excess grease in the final dish.

If you love extra sauce, double the sauce ingredients — it’s great over rice!

Fresh garlic makes all the difference; avoid substituting with jarred if possible.
