A truly comforting and versatile addition to your favorite food ideas!

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup warm water

1 tablespoon sugar

2 teaspoons instant yeast

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup Greek yogurt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or olive oil)

4 tablespoons butter, melted

3 cloves garlic, finely minced

2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

2. Add yogurt, oil, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. Mix until a rough dough forms.

3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

5. Punch down the dough and divide into 6–8 equal parts. Roll each into an oval or teardrop shape.

6. Heat a cast-iron or heavy skillet over medium-high heat.

7. Cook one naan at a time for 1–2 minutes per side until golden and puffed.

8. Melt butter and stir in minced garlic while naan cooks.

9. Brush each naan with garlic butter and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.

10. Serve warm and enjoy with curries, dips, or grilled dishes.

Notes

Make sure your yeast is fresh and active to get a good rise.

Use a hot skillet to get that char and puff like traditional tandoor naan.

For extra flavor, add a pinch of salt or chili flakes to the garlic butter.
