  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed or grated
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tablespoon vinegar/lemon juice)
  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add buttermilk and stir gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Using a spoon or scoop, drop mounds of dough onto the baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
