  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
  • ¼ cup hot honey
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
  2. Set Up Breading Station: In one bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. In a second bowl, whisk eggs with buttermilk. In a third bowl, add panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Shrimp: Dredge each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat the Oil: In a deep pan, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the Shrimp: Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack.
  6. Make the Hot Honey Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat, then stir in hot honey, soy sauce, and chili flakes.
  7. Coat the Shrimp: Toss the fried shrimp in the hot honey glaze until evenly coated.
  8. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve immediately!
