Ingredients

Scale

3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/3 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)

2 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

1. Peel and cube sweet potatoes into even-sized chunks.

2. Place them in a large pot, cover with salted water, and bring to a boil.

3. Reduce heat and simmer 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.

4. Drain well in a colander and allow moisture to evaporate.

5. Return potatoes to the pot or a large bowl.

6. Mash using a masher or hand mixer until smooth.

7. Add warm butter, cream, sour cream (if using), and garlic.

8. Stir to combine and season with salt, pepper, and spices.

9. Adjust consistency with more cream if needed.

10. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Always warm your cream and butter to keep the mash fluffy and smooth.

For added flavor, fold in caramelized onions or roasted garlic.

Sweet potatoes can be made ahead and stored for up to 4 days.
