- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract (or almond extract)
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Do not grease or line baking sheets.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
- If using food coloring, divide the dough and mix in desired colors.
- Fill a cookie press with dough and press cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet. Decorate with sprinkles if desired.
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, until the edges are just set but not browned.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
