Twisted strips of buttery crescent dough are brushed with melted butter, sprinkled with sugar, and packed with mini chocolate chips, then baked until golden. It’s a quick breakfast or easy recipe to serve at brunch, with coffee, or as a fun baking project with kids.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough or 1 sheet puff pastry
2 tablespoons melted butter
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
1 tablespoon powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the crescent dough or puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
3. If using crescent dough, press the seams together to form one solid sheet.
4. Brush the entire surface with melted butter.
5. Sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the buttered dough.
6. Scatter mini chocolate chips across the top and press them in gently.
7. Cut the dough into 1-inch wide strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter.
8. Twist each strip a few times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
9. Bake for 10–14 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
10. Remove from oven and let cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
Use mini chocolate chips for even melting and easier twisting.
Let puff pastry rest in the fridge after shaping for flakier results.
Don’t overcrowd the baking sheet; give each twist room to puff.
