2 cups pitted cherries

1/3 cup sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/4 cup water

1 package 3.9 oz instant chocolate pudding mix

1 1/2 cups cold milk

1 cup whipped topping

1 1/2 cups whipped topping

1/2 cup maraschino cherries or fresh cherries

2 tablespoons chocolate chips or chocolate curls

Dark chocolate shavings

Cocoa powder

Extra whipped cream


Instructions

1. If needed, pre-bake your pie crust at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes until golden. Let cool completely.

2. If making homemade cherry filling, combine cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan. Simmer over medium heat until thickened and glossy, about 5–7 minutes. Let it cool.

3. Spread the cherry pie filling (canned or homemade) evenly into the cooled crust. Chill for 10–15 minutes.

4. In a bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until thickened, about 2 minutes.

5. Fold in the whipped topping to create a smooth and fluffy chocolate cream.

6. Spread the chocolate layer over the cherry layer carefully. Smooth the top. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

7. Spread whipped topping generously on top and create swirls or peaks.

8. Garnish with cherries and chocolate chips or curls.

9. Chill the entire pie for at least 3 hours or overnight before serving.
