Ingredients

Scale

4 cube steaks

1 large onion, thinly sliced

1 packet onion soup mix

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

1 tablespoon water (optional, for slurry)

Fresh parsley, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

1. Pat the cube steaks dry and season both sides with garlic powder and black pepper.

2. (Optional) Sear the steaks in a skillet with a little oil for 1-2 minutes per side to add extra flavor.

3. Layer sliced onions on the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the cube steaks over the onions.

4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce.

5. Pour the gravy mixture over the steaks and onions.

6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or on HIGH for 4-5 hours, until steaks are fork-tender.

7. (Optional) For thicker gravy, remove steaks and stir in a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 1 tbsp water). Cook on HIGH for 10-15 minutes until thickened. Return steaks to crock pot.

8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or noodles, spoon gravy on top, and garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

Prep everything the night before and refrigerate to save time in the morning.

Searing the steaks adds rich flavor, though it’s optional.

Let the gravy rest for 5 minutes after thickening to deepen its flavor before serving.
