  • Total Time: 1 hour 16 minutes
  • Yield: 12 mozzarella sticks 1x

Description

A delicious and easy homemade snack, these air fryer mozzarella sticks are crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Perfect for parties, game nights, or a quick appetizer, they are healthier than deep-fried versions and can be made ahead of time. Serve with marinara sauce for the best experience!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Cooking spray or oil

Instructions

  1. Freeze the cheese sticks – Cut mozzarella sticks in half and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare breading stations – Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with mixed breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the cheese sticks – Dredge each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust.
  4. Freeze again – Place coated mozzarella sticks back in the freezer for another 30 minutes.
  5. Air fry – Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the mozzarella sticks with cooking spray and arrange them in a single layer.
  6. Cook – Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  7. Serve – Enjoy immediately with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
