- 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray or oil
Instructions
- Freeze the cheese sticks – Cut mozzarella sticks in half and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare breading stations – Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with mixed breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Coat the cheese sticks – Dredge each frozen mozzarella stick in flour, dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust.
- Freeze again – Place coated mozzarella sticks back in the freezer for another 30 minutes.
- Air fry – Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the mozzarella sticks with cooking spray and arrange them in a single layer.
- Cook – Air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve – Enjoy immediately with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
